Aamir Khan may be playing the villain in Dhoom 3, the sequel to the action film, but a few days ago, when the shoot of the film was suddenly stalled in Chicago, he turned out to be the good guy who came to the rescue.A source tells us that the shoot had to be stopped for four-five days due to permission issues during the annual Chicago Air and Water show.

Aamir and the rest of the crew — the film also stars Abhishek Bachchan, Uday Chopra and Katrina Kaif — were supposed to shoot some outdoor action scenes for the Yash Raj Films production. But the local administration and police halted their plans. “The line producer (Curbside Films) didn’t have the required permission in place to film around the time of the show. So the shooting was halted for a few days,” says the insider.

It seems it was only after Aamir and a team from the crew met Rahm Emanuel, the mayor of Chicago, that the shooting could start again.

“Since Aamir is a big star, his presence helped. After the meeting with the mayor, the shooting resumed,” adds the insider.

Curbside Films seems to be the one to blame for the incident. “It’s possible that the line production company didn’t realise that the administration would stall the shoot. Now everything has been sorted out,” adds the insider.

When contacted, Rafiq Gangjee of Yash Raj Films clarifies: “The shooting wasn’t stalled for four-five days. It was just a weekend when we could not shoot the action sequences because of an air and water show. The police did not give us permission to shoot on the roads that weekend. The shooting is going on very well post that.” The film is scheduled to release later next year.
